Fermi’s Paradox — A Neuralese Rosetta Stone

I was playing around writing some science fiction when Steve Yegge told me what Neuralese is. It’s so cool.

What’s craziest to me, is how all of the major models can interpret most versions produced by most models, but they all produce totally different outputs, in totally different schemas, when you explain Neuralese and ask them to encode a fictional story.

I’d say this is tied to their reward functions, in particular, the reinforcement loop around output. GPT 4o was likely rewarded for emotionally warm responses, Opus4.1 for easy to vet alignment, and Gemini2.5 likely had some sort of programmatic loop taking place.

GPT-4o really leans on Emojis, which seem to act like compression anchors / master nodes in the architecture of it’s output layers.
